Finland and Sweden are known for being dog-friendly countries; however, they tend to have stricter legal restrictions on pets in public spaces, reflecting a law-abiding mindset.
Dogs can hop on public transport, but they usually need to stay in designated pet areas, and there might be an extra fee. There’s special subway cars that allow dogs in Stockholm, but that’s super stressful to find the right one in the moment.
The Viking ferry crossing between Sweden and Finland is cool with pets, but there’s an extra fee and specific pet areas.
If your dog needs a vet, it’s easy because English is common.
