Overall, we discovered that our Maltese was warmly accepted in most places, including tours and cafes. Finding a hotel in Budapest was hassle-free. Though we saw a no-dogs sign at a fresh market, carrying our pup through raised no eyebrows.
However, transportation proved a bit tricky due to unclear Hungarian train rules regarding dogs. To this day, we remain uncertain about which trains were truly pet-friendly. As our dog stayed quiet in its carrier, we just jumped on and hoped for the best.
