While Romanians have a soft spot for dogs, it isn’t the easiest country. We encountered difficulties when searching for hotels, but finding places to stay long-term is easier.

Train travel was straightforward, and local buses welcomed us without any issues. We had a positive experience with the vet.

Also, most restaurants and cafes in Brasov weren’t dog-friendly, so be prepared to dine on patios or without your furry companion.

Rails are very different in eastern Europe. I come from Romania and believe me the travel time is very long due to the fact that the train rails are mega old. Romania itself is not very dog friendly when it comes to transporting the dog on the train. They go on the 2nd class cabins. The sleeping cabins are also not great :)) I’m not doing a very good job at selling my country but for travel with the dog via train it’s not ideal.
